Purpose Statement
We are a fellowship of believers who claim Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. We are committed to glorifying God in all we do and say - in worship, in study, in witness, and obedient application of the Word of God. We also want to be a community of caring believers who manifest the love of God to each other and to the world. As empowered by the Holy Spirit, we commit ourselves to make disciples of all nations by evangelizing the unreached and teaching Christians to obey everything Christ has commanded.
Our History
On May 2, 1852, the Green Spring Church of God was organized. The congregation built a small brick church on the south side of today's Route 641 east of Newburg and had an adjoining cemetery. In the early days it was often called the Irishtown Church of God.
A new and much larger edifice located on the south side of Route 641 near the original church was dedicated January 26, 1965, and an education wing was added and dedicated September 19, 1971. Its present name is Green Spring First Church of God.
An All-Purpose Building was erected behind the bethel in 1976 and contains a complete kitchen, a basketball/volleyball court, and additional classrooms.
The newest addition on the church property is a large Pavilion fully facilitated with electrical receptacles, lighting and restrooms. This pavilion is located beside the church ball field and was dedicated on September 19, 2010.
